Traditional dentures are removable sets of teeth that are held in place by suction. They are more suitable for patients who have lost all or close to all their teeth. Removable dentures are a quicker solution than permanent dentures.
Also called permanent dentures, implant supported dentures can be much more stable than removable dentures. These dentures utilize the technology used in dental implants to replace teeth permanently.
Denture implants begin with the same process as teeth implants used to replace single missing teeth. However, denture implants replace all or most of your teeth. Implant supported dentures are not removable. They are natural-looking and restore tooth functioning like chewing and talking.
The Implant Process
Dental implants, including implant-supported dentures, start with a rod placed in the jawbone. Once the rod, or the implant, has had enough time to fuse to the bone, the teeth are replaced with a connector, called an abutment, that attaches the implant to the crown, which is the tooth replacement that you can see. The crown is customized to perfectly match your remaining teeth and restore your beautiful, natural smile.
